Georgia and Alabama

Alice Roberta Whatley is a little bit of a mystery. According to the 1910 US Census in Muscogee County, Georgia, she married John James "Johnnie" McKemie about 1902. She was known to his relations as being "from Girard". Girard was once a small town in eastern Alabama near the border with Georgia and right beside Phenix City. In 1923, a little more than a decade after she passed away, Girard was absorbed by Phenix City.

Alice was the daughter of Geneva Alice Saxon and J. A. Whatley.
