The first known DOUGHERTY in America was Patrick Joseph DOUGHERTY. Patrick was born in August of 1870 in Ireland, according to census records, and died on 29 October 1935 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. He married Delia MURPHY around 1935 in New York (again, per US Census records). She was born in June of 1870 in Ireland. Delia died on 15 September 1928 in The Bronx, New York City, New York.

Many basic questions are currently unanswered with regard to our DOUGHERTY family. What part of Ireland did Patrick come from? And Delia? Did they meet here in America, or were they sweethearts back in Ireland?

Joseph Patrick DOUGHERTY, who was born 06 October 1900 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. He died 06 April 1963 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. Joseph Patrick married Anna Barbara HAUSNER.

John Joseph DOUGHERTY, born 15 July 1927 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. He married Marion HAGE on 28 February 1947. She was born 03 October 1927 in New York and died 03 May 1997 in Le Mesa, California.

Margaret Mary DOUGHERTY, born 18 July 1928. She died 19 April 2002 in Bakersfield, Kern County, California. She married Robert SORCE.

Vincent Jerome DOUGHERTY, born 17 July 1932 in The Bronx, New York and died 12 September 2001, in Woodland Hills, California. He married (1) Suzanne KAHN and (2) Danni SCHROEDER in 1996.
