You are here: Her Tree Story > Davidson Family
Thomas Davidson was born April 23, 1900 to Stephen B. Davidson and his wife, Louisa Ann Grammer. Tom first appears in the 1900 US Federal Census for Marshal County, Tennessee with both parents. By the next census, the family had moved just a little south to Giles County, Tennessee, and Tom appears with the family again, who all appear to be farming. I've not found him in the 1920 census, but from 1930 onward, he is in Polk County, Florida, working as a citrus grower, among other things.
Stephen B. Davidson and Louisa Ann “Annie“ Grammer had the following children:
Annie Grammer was the daughter of Monroe Washington Grammer and Elizabeth. I believe they were married in Tennessee, as well.
Stephen Davidson was the son of George Davidson and Tabitha Lavender. There is some conflicting information about Tabitha's maiden name. The source for her to be Tabitha Lavender is the death certificate of her son, Stephen. There is a marriage record of a George Davidson marrying Tabitha Chesser (also spelled Chesson) in Williamson County, Tennessee. There is also a Elizabeth Chison, age 19, in the home of George and Tabitha in the 1850 Maury County, Tennessee, US Federal Census. Could this be a sister to Tabitha? More study is needed on this relationship.
George Davidson and Tabitha had the following children:
The only census in which Tabitha and George are listed together is the 1850 Maury County, Tennessee US Federal Census. By 1860, George seems to have disappeared – possibly died. But the couple is in Maury County with their first 5 children. By 1860, Tabitha is alone with the children. She continues o appear with her children until the 1880 census. By 1900, Stephen is listed in Marshall County, Tennessee, with his wife, Annie, along with Annie's mother, Bettie Grammer. I haven't found Tabitha in the 1900 census or beyond, so she might have passed on before the 1900 census was taken,or even before the 1890, since that one was lost.
Within the Fmaily Trees section of the FamilySearch.org website, some have attached this family to the George Davidson who was married to Rosanna Falls. I understand this, but I hesitate to officially do so myself due to the age issues. Rosannah Falls would have been giving birth to my George (h/o of Tabitha) when she was 55 years old. Perhaps there is a missing generation, or mine was a nephew or there is a date wrong. Until further study reveals more information, I'll leave my George unattached.
